Hornby remains one of Christchurch’s more affordable suburbs, close to the outskirts of the city and bisected by the Main South Road and the main railway heading south. Hornby has a range of light industrial and commercial property, mainly within the area framed by Main South Road, Racecourse Road, Buchanans Road and Carmen Road. Recent subdivision has occurred in the area due to the selling of land that was formerly part of Wigram Aerodrome.
