Christchurch is a beautiful city particularly in spring, when the blossoms around Hagley Park and public gardens are in full flower. The central city is currently undergoing a massive regeneration due earthquake damage sustained to many of its major building structures. The Neo-Gothic buildings of the Arts Centre, Museum and Christ’s College add a unique flavour and character to the central city, while the Re-start shipping container mall offers something different from the numerous suburban shopping malls.
Located inside the Four Avenues of Christchurch city are a number of pockets of residential housing, units and apartments. The Christchurch City Council is encouraging developers to create more residential areas in the central city to draw people into the city centre during weekends.
